Short Bio

Marieke Bos is an Associate Professor (Docent) and Deputy Director at the Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics. Research Affiliate at Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and Tinbergen Institute. She also holds a Full Professor position (0.2 FTE) at the Finance department of the VU Amsterdam. She is a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Consumer Finance Institute. Marieke is part of the Scientific Board of the National Debt Office in Sweden, and has been a board member of the Swedish Pensions Agency, and a visiting scholar at the Central Bank of Sweden. Furthermore,  she has worked as a consultant for the Swedish (FI) and UK (FCA) Financial Regulator on topics within consumer protection and consumer credit repayments.

Marieke has won the 2019 Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award for her paper in the Review of Financial Studies,  and the 2017 Hans Dalborg award for excellence in Financial Economic Research. She also obtained research grants from Handelsbanken Jan Wallander och Tom Hedelius Foundation,  Nasdaq foundation, FORTE, the Swedish Innovation Agency (VINNOVA), NBER, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Russel Sage Foundation, the Swedish Bank Research Foundation, and the Filene Research Institute.

Marieke’s research focuses mainly on individuals’ decision-making within the field of Household Finance and Empirical Banking.

Marieke is a member of AFFECT, a committee of the American Finance Association, to promote the advancement of women academics in the field of finance.
